Meet Our Providers & Care Team

Exceptional care requires a superior team. Comprised of highly-talented and uniquely qualified individuals, the IdealEyes team is a cut above the rest. Whether you consider the fact that our providers earned their doctorates at elite, top five colleges of optometry, that over 50% of our staff have earned their college degrees, that we are the only optometry office in the state that employs a full-time pharmacist, or the 100+ combined years our employees have worked in healthcare, you’d be hard-pressed to find a team like this anywhere else!

Dr. Lisa McAllister
Optometrist & Owner

Dr. Lisa McAllister

Dr. McAllister grew up in Belmont, NC and originally intended to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine at NC State University. During one of her anatomy & physiology labs, she was tasked with dissecting a cow’s eye. What she saw inside fascinated her. She began working as an optometric technician for a local practice in Raleigh where she enjoyed caring for patients and fell in love with the profession. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Biology and then to The Ohio State University College of Optometry where she earned both her Doctorate in Optometry and Masters Degree in Vision Science in 2010.

Dr. McAllister has served in a variety of practice settings including corporate practice, the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center, and independent private practice in both Florida and North Carolina.

Dr. McAllister’s areas of interest include diabetic eye health, glaucoma, dry eye syndrome and contact lenses. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her husband Jim and their 3 small children.

Medical Technician & Eyewear Stylist

Chrissy

Chrissy, the newest member of the IdealEyes care team, began her optometry career in 2015 working as a technician for a local optometry practice. A native of Elkin, NC, Chrissy graduated from Surry Central High School before attending Surry Community College where she studied cosmetology. Having a positive attitude and eagerness to learn, Chrissy is a joy to be around, whether you are a patient or a coworker. Chrissy absolutely loves working with patients and it shows! While Chrissy primarily cares for patients as an optometric medical technician, she also enjoys working with patients in our optical showroom, helping patients to see clearly and look great.

When she is not serving patients, Chrissy enjoys swimming at the lake, reading books, and spending time with the person who brings her the most joy in life, her young daughter.

Medical Technician

Judy

Judy grew up in Georgia and moved to North Carolina to attend Lenoir-Rhyne University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies. After college, Judy moved to Winston-Salem where she met her husband, Gary, together raising their four children. Judy’s personality is compassionate and kind, which makes her an excellent optometric technician and patient care specialist. She enjoys helping people and she provides our patients with thorough and exceptional care every day. Judy can always be counted on to lend a helping hand.

Outside of the office, she enjoys walks with her husband and two golden retrievers, beach trips and holidays with her family, and getting together with her college friends. Judy has been with IdealEyes for four years.

Medical Technician

Meredith

Meredith was born and raised in Clemmons, North Carolina. After graduating from North Davidson High School, Meredith attended UNC Greensboro where she earned her bachelor’s degree in communication. She has been working in optometry for nearly 25 years, and her experience and knowledge are evident to any patient for whom she provides care. Thoughtful, warm-hearted and cool under pressure, our rock Meredith can handle any curveball thrown her way.

Outside of work, Meredith enjoys spending time with her husband, family and fur-babies. She is happiest around water, particularly when she’s aboard any seaworthy vessel!

Eyewear Stylist

Meghan

Meghan grew up in Winston-Salem. After graduating from North Forsyth High School, she became a licensed cosmetologist. In 2016, Meghan expanded on her cosmetology experience and began working in optometry as an eyewear stylist. With her unique background and natural “eye for style,” Meghan excels in helping patients select eyewear that meets their vision needs while looking and feeling their best! As a fellow small business owner, she understands the importance of great customer service. Meghan has a strong desire to continue to grow her optical knowledge and she never shies away from a challenge. She has worked diligently to help us create educational materials to simplify the many options available on spectacle lenses. At IdealEyes, Meghan’s job is to make sure that you have the clearest most comfortable vision possible in your new glasses.

When she’s not in our office, she’s busy raising her young son and providing services in the salon. Meghan loves her dogs, diet Dr. Pepper, spending time at the lake and exploring her talents with art and crafts.

Managing Director

James

The original “Dr. McAllister,” James grew up in Chapel Hill, NC. After completing his undergraduate coursework at NC State University, James earned his PharmD from UNC Chapel Hill. He would then go on to complete two years of pharmacy residency while earning his Master’s in Health System Pharmacy Administration. James then spent the next 15 years leading pharmacy services and managing operations for some of the country’s largest academic health systems, as well as running his own healthcare consulting firm. At IdealEyes, James has administrative oversight of practice operations, revenue cycle management and workforce development, enabling our office to run smoothly and continue to provide superior service with access to state of the art diagnostic technology. He also serves as a resource to our patients and staff for medication management needs, including helping patients access financial assistance programs, working with insurance carriers on authorizations, and building relationships with local pharmacies to ensure they have those hard-to-find or compounded medications prescribed by our providers.

When he’s not working, James enjoys being a proud husband and father of three young children, coaching their soccer and baseball teams, fly-fishing with his father-in-law in the mountains of NC, spending time with his mom on the legendary outer banks of NC, and scuba diving the many shipwrecks in the “Graveyard of the Atlantic!”
